Karlín Music Theatre belongs to significant cultural sights of Prague, which were afflicted with large flooding in summer 2003. Its destiny seemed to be more than questionable. This tragedy has paradoxically put the keystone to a grandiose comeback. New management of Theatre did not reconcile to the adversity and has brought the Theatre back to life. The building has not only gone through a demanding reconstruction but also a new block has been added to current objects, which has significantly increased the reputation of this Theatre.
Prof. Jiří Pelc, the author of the impressive interior, is playing a game of mosaic between material and light and creates a setting worth such a cultural sight. Scenographically concepted foyers contrast with setting of bars or actors clubs. Classical approach of main hall contrasts with underground setting of little theatre stage Karlínek and its "rusty bar". Very personal design of backstage and staff area stands in opposition to luxurious restaurant or cafeteria. Technical setting of interior of management areas contrasts with dome areas and wooden relieves, which were found only during reconstruction.
Complete interior is therefore a whole sequence of questions and answers and that is what surely a theatre should be.
